28.  Marion Davies

Marion Davies

(1897-1961)

Although she made many movies from 1917 to 1937, Marion is best remembered as William Randolph Hearst's mistress.  In return he made her a major screen personality and a wealthy woman.

Marion had excellent musical skills and a knack for comic routines, but, although highly touted by Hearst's press, was only average as a dramatic actress.

This vintage 8"x10" matte sepia is dated "9/17/23" in pencil on the reverse.

Excellent condition and signature contrast.
