It is also signed and dated “11.30.33” by the highly skilled portrait artist H. E. Muller.
This is one of ten 'signed' beautifully executed Muller portraits of Hollywood legends being offered in this website. (See all 10 signed portraits)
Eight (of the 10) are 8.5” x 11” and two are slightly smaller. In matching frames they would make an impressive display in a business, office or home.
Will Rogers was an excellent horseman and rope twirler, working in Wild West shows, fairs and vaudeville, gradually blending some humor into his act.
Rogers early career in silent movies was not particularly successful and, after a losing venture into producing and directing silent films, the advent of sound movies revitalized his acting career and he achieved great success with his homespun humor.
In 1935 Rogers, at the height of his popularity, died with his pilot-friend Wiley Post when their small plane crashed in Alaska.
The paper size is 8.5” x 11”. Minor marginal darkening from pencil smudges, but in otherwise fine condition.
