51. Raymond Griffith

Raymond Griffith

(1890-1957)

Ray was a very active and popular star of the silent movies, but his vocal chords were badly damaged when he was a child and could only speak in a hoarse whisper - hence, his career ended with the advent of talkies .

His major claim to acting fame was his outstanding, although uncredited, performance as a dying French soldier in "All Quiet on the Western Front"(1930).

Based on content, this fan letter was written in the 1920's.

A fold goes through the last line, but the letter is otherwise in fine condition.

Price: $ 10

(Sold 'As Is' - signature probably by secretary)
